This project encompasses the efforts to strategically grow social communities and foster desirable behaviors in society. It explores an alternative approach to conventional influence maximization, focusing not on persuasion, but on informedness, and exploiting "positive network externalities" and the phenomenon of "social proof".
This project makes advances in cooperative game theory, text analysis, and data mining to model how and why conversational engagement occurs and information spreads in social networks. These models feed into the prescriptive efforts using network optimization, mixed-integer programming and recommendation system design.
